The Great Gatsby

_____________________________

There are only five weeks that separate us from the premiere of The Great Gatsby, and I'm counting down every second. If you've been here since the beginning, you know that the Fitzgeralds are my first love, and The Great Gatsby is the favorite child. Everything about this movie seems to be beautiful and exquisite, and for the amount of time they've been perfecting it, it ought to be.
This new trailer is soooo good! Enjoy!

well seasoned.

I guess it kind of goes without being said, but I've taken a few months off from regular blogging. I've taken some much needed time to think, reflect, and grow personally & professionally, but Fall just puts me in the spirit to get back to social network socializing. Pumpkins, spice & everything nice are poppin' up all over Pinterest and Tumblr, and I'm in tweed & Bean Boot heaven. These are some of my favorite pictures that have me longing for a cozy fireplace & a cable knit anything. Consider this Part I of many Fall related posts. My thumbs are numb from repinning and reblogging all things autumn.
Time to stop and smell the cinnamon.

The leaves are falling, the air is crisper, and everything feels new – renewed. I hope y'all are feeling this Fall leaf turning over, too. It feels pretty good.

be still, my heart.

If only I had seen these while a hoard of family members were asking me what I wanted for Christmas.  Spotted first on Coco+Kelley, this collection of hardback Fitzgerald editions is to die for.  Everyone who knows my affinity for Mr. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald and Jay Gatsby knows how much I now adore Coralie Bickford-Smith's art deco designed covers for some of Fitzgerald's most famous works, including The Great Gatsby and The Beautiful and Damned.  These anniversary editions are a chic addition to any desk or coffee table.
Now, how far away is my birthday again...?

next stop, east egg.

It looks like, yet again, that in addition to being one of my
  favorite ways
to avoid studying (ahem, I mean..take a study break),

               is in my head, too.

How Gatsby.*

Take me to East Egg, please.

*I promise that not all of my posts will be Fitzgerald/Gatsby related..ha.

all of the advantages

cute, aren't they?
My friends know that I have an obsession.  A big one.  It begins with "Great" and ends with "Gatsby."  Being a Montgomerian means you love that book.  You're lookin' at a girl who was born on Gatsby Lane.  Who spent her days shopping on Zelda Road.  Big time obsession here.  Inspired by the ultimate Montgomery belle, Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, F. Scott penned The Great Gatsby, my absolute favorite book in the world.  It transports you to a magical time.  It makes you feel like you know the characters; it makes you feel connected to the Fitzgeralds. I can just see Zelda prancing through MCC, the Serena van der Woodsen of her time (I'm a Blair, in case you were wondering..but that's a totally different topic).

Needless to say, I
love the book.  And as no surprise, one of my favorite quotes comes from this classic.

"Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."
This quote brings me back to reality so very often.  So many times I get caught up in petty criticisms over shallow things, or I just plain don't count my blessings.  You never truly know what battles people are in or how much they've overcome to get where they are.  I'm learning to thank the Lord for the advantages that He has blessed me with and to appreciate them and to use them for His glory.  Learning is a journey, though.  I'm takin' it one step at a time.  Good thing He's right beside me.

guess Kate is a Gatsby fan too..
