Almost forty years after the budding designer created the costumes worn in the 1974 film The Great Gatsby, Ralph Lauren paid homage to the film with a dreamy collection depicting the best of the roaring twenties.  You all know how I feel about F. Scott's finest story, so I'm loving this collection.  Grab your caps, and follow me to the speakeasy.

Tory Burch SS 2012

The one thing that could cheer me up on a hot day on which I have a cold from hades is the fact that Tory Tuesday has had a jam-packed agenda, and it was a colorful one at that.  Not only was today Tory's first fashion week show, but she was also featured in the Wall Street Journal.  The TB show featured classic, retro-chic looks that are synonymous with her brand.  On cue, the article touted her business savviness and growing empire, though she shot down rumors of an IPO.  ..If Tory goes public, I want in.

I can't decide if I get more excited about Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week because of the amazing collections that will be influencing our sartorial decisions for months, or because of the behind-the-scenes planning, promoting and overall production of the whole thing.  Nothing makes me more excited than seeing my Twitter feed awash in #MBFW tweets, designer blogs laughing at crazy show requests, and then signing onto the WSJ and seeing a behind-the-scenes, day-in-the-life-of -esque article on one of the power house women behind the shows.  The anticipation is half of the fun, no?
