greenery with envy.

If you were to peak into my everyday listening and activities, on any given August or September day you would find me listening to Christmas music, longing to deck the halls, and scoffing at those who wax poetic about how Christmas music and celebrating should wait until after Thanksgiving. However this year the Starbucks red cups and Christmas retail explosion have caught me off guard. Maybe it's that the advertising world has me living two or three months in advance, and to me, December is just a scary reminder that work has to be done and a month is really only 4 or 5 blinks of the eye. Thankfully, I've finally snapped out if it. Dreams of Advent, candlelight services, my very first tree in my very first apartment, and the thought of a Christmas in which, for the first time in 5 years, I'm not living out of a suitcase, banished from my abode for 6 weeks, have me enchanted for the coming season. It's sounding more glorious by the day. My first order of business will be decking my door with a new wreath. Will it be magnolia leaves and handmade? Will it be a boxwood wreath from Etsy with beautiful bronze satin ribbon? I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that my burlap wreath will soon be taking a hiatus and will be replaced by some beautiful greenery. I've got Christmas movies on loop, cider in my mug, and a yearning for the next two months to stand still so I can stop and smell the fraser firs. It's the beginning of my favorite time of year, and I am more content than I've ever been to spend it in my favorite city with my favorite friends, and to create a few traditions of my own.
